The Biggest Public Helicopter Show in Europe in 2002.
Held on Beach Lawns, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, UK.
26th, 27th and 28th July 2002.

One of the first to arrive on Friday 26th July was this German Army MBB Bö 105P1, serial 87+95, anti-tank helicopter from Röth. Powered by two Allison 250-C20Bs it carries six HOT missiles. Royal Navy Westland Lynx HAS Mk3S, XZ694, (411/EB) from No.815 Squadron, Yeovilton. Assigned to HMS Edinburgh. Powered by two Rolls Royce Gem 42 series engines, each delivering 1120shp. The usual spirited flying as the Polish Navy's new PZL W-3RM Anakonda Serial 0906 arrived from its base at Gdynia-Babie. Used for offshore search and rescue duties it is equipped with a winch and flotation bags.
The RAF's No.230 Squadron, Aldergrove, sent the WS Puma HC1 assault helicopter XW210. Built jointly by Westland and Aerospatiale and powered by two R-R/Turbomeca Turmo III.C4 turboshafts. Agusta A109 BA, Ser.H-43, from the Belgian Army in Bierset. An anti-tank helicopter it is powered by two 450hp Allison 250-C20 engines and fitted with a non-retractable undercarriage to save weight. The Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance MBB Bö 105 DBS/4  G-NAAB landed mid-afternoon on 27th July. Powered by 2 x Allison 250-C20B engines it can carry two stretchers, loaded through rear clamshell doors.

EC-135T1, G-WCAO, c/n 0208, was delivered to the Western Counties Air Operations Unit at Filton, Bristol, in June 2002. It is significantly quieter than their AS.355. The pod below the fuselage houses cameras. Belgian Air Force Sea King MK.48 HAS.3  Ser.WA831, Code RS01, from 40 Squadron at Koksijde, salutes as it leaves Helidays on 28th July. Used for Search and Rescue it is powered by 2 Rolls- Royce Gnome H-1400-1 engines. This Enstrom 480, G-WOOF, c/n 5027, is the 4/5 seat commercial version of the Model 280 and is powered by one 420 shp Allison 250-C20W turboshaft. The first Enstrom 480 flew in 1993.

Italian Air Force Agusta Bell AB.212, MM81213/9-19 powered by one PT6T-3 Turbo Twin Pac de-rated to 1130shp. Agusta-built Bell 206B Jet Ranger 3, EI-CUS, of Emerald Helicopter Consultants in Ireland, with one Allison 250-C20B turboshaft. French Air Force AS.555N Fennec, ser.5428/VK, from Metz-Frescaty, powered by two TM319 Arrius turboshafts.
Safely on the ground, the Polish Navy's PZL W-3RM Anakonda. Built in Poland for SAR duties.

The 4-seat Robinson R-44 Clipper, G-DCOM, c/n 0780, was from Kent and is only two years old.
