Two Sea Kings over the shore at the close of Helidays, in Weston-super-Mare, on Sunday 29th July 2007.
Bell 206B Jet Ranger 3, G-OCFD flew in from Sywell on Saturday morning and returned on Sunday. Bell 412EP Griffin HT.1, ZJ240, from DHFS No.60 Squadron, SARTU, based at RAF Valley in Anglesey, North Wales. Agusta Bell 206B Jet Ranger II, G-SPEY, from Hertfordshire, arrived on Saturday. Built in Italy in 1981.
Three Army Historic Aircraft Flight helicopters, from the Army Air Corps base at Middle Wallop in Hampshire, touched down on Beach Lawns on Friday July 27th. They were (above left to right) Agusta Bell Sioux AH.1, XT131, Westland Scout AH.1, XT626, stirring up a quantity of sand and dust as it hover-taxied into its display position and Sud Aviation Alouette II, XR379.
In 1957, fifty years ago, the new Army Air Corps came into being, with its headquarters at Middle Wallop.
Weston Helidays can always rely on hosting an interesting selection of Robinson helicopters. Among those attending in 2007 were two of the R44 Clipper IIs from EBG Helicopters of Redhill, G-PGGY (above left) and G-PAMY (above centre). Also seen was R22 Beta, G-WIZA, from Cranfield (above right).
